ParticipantPete. Why should it be up to the WTA to get the clubs together to discuss the shoot dates for the clubs. Unless the Homegrounds would be involved. This should be left up to the clubs. Not the WTA. Down here in the SE the clubs used to get together and discuss the dates also. I was involved with Cudahy, Lakeview and Winchester for a lot of years. The WTA wasn’t involved and would not have even been welcome. They weren’t and aren’t and shouldn’t be involved with clubs setting their dates.

ParticipantThe point I am trying to make Don, if they just work together, the surrounding clubs so they don’t schedule shoots on the same dates. I would rather go to a shoot with 50 shooter vs. 25. If the clubs could see all the dates before the final schedule is put together they could possibly move dates around to better suit them, that’s all I am getting at. The WTA doesn’t necessarily have to get involved other than supply the dates that clubs submit.

ParticipantDon I believe back then the WTA only had 2 shoots. The state team shoot and the State shoot, which no other registered shoots were allowed during those event dates. As the WTA expands to more shoot dates at the homegrounds they have to be very conscious of clubs that have registered shoots.

ParticipantThere seems to be a lot of sensitivity over stepping on other club shooting dates. Why not have it a labor day shoot….either September 2,3 &4th or 3,4 &5th? No other Wisconsin club shoots that weekend. I, for one, have no objections shooting over that period. It would probably benefit securing trap help prior to school starting and the weather is generally nicer the end of August/first of September. I have no idea what problems that date would have. Great weekend to take the family to take in a registered shoot and do some camping out.

ParticipantDick on that Labor Day weekend you have Muscoda team shoot and the Autumn Grand at Stockdale’s in Iowa.

ParticipantI know I’m with the Muscoda club but the problem with Labor Day week-end is the Heartland Grand. The week-end of Sept 16-17-18 is the best shot and if we keep it on that time annually it could build in to “The midwest event”.

ParticipantIn my opinion, if we want our shoot to become major midwest shoot, we must accomodate the dates of the other established shoots such as the Mo Handicap. As we’ve only had the shoot one year, now is the time to change the date to an open weekend. As a board member I will be voting for the change.
