The WTA Hall of Fame provides the highest honor to Wisconsin residents having distinguished themselves by outstanding proficiency in the sport of trapshooting or by substantial contributions to the welfare and promotion of the sport.

The following structure, guidelines and rules govern the administration and selection process:

  1. A HOF Selection Committee (SC) will consist of two (2) persons not on the WTA Board of Directors (BOD) and the WTA President.
  2. The number of candidates presented by the SC to the BOD annually is not to exceed  two (2). The SC may choose to recommend fewer than two candidates, including the option of no selections.
  3. WTA HOF nominees are selected from two categories; Shooter – individuals having established impressive shooting records in Wisconsin and on an ATA-wide basis, and Contributor – those having distinguished themselves by their contributions to the sport in Wisconsin. This category can take on and is intended to have a broad meaning. Contributors are recognized for providing great service to trapshooting in Wisconsin. Requirements for each category are:

Shooter:

  1. Active WTA/ATA member and shooter for a minimum of 15 years.
  2. And; won at least 1 of the Wisconsin State Shoot Championship titles (i.e., Singles, Handicap, Doubles, HOA or HAA).
  3. And; won at least 10 trophies at either the Grand, Satellite Grands, preliminary Wisconsin State Shoot events and other state shoots (preliminary or championship events).

Contributor:

  1. Active WTA/ATA member and shooter for a minimum of 15 years.
  2. And; unequivocally active in the administration, welfare, promotion or education / training of trapshooting in Wisconsin.
    1. Both categories are viewed with the same degree of prestige. Plaques and/or pictures will not contain category designation.
    2. Candidate selection will not be based on a combination of both Categories. However, the SC will review for “special consideration” a nominee who’s shooting merit and/or service contributions substantially outweigh the minimum requirements.
  3. The 15 year requirement may be waived in cases where death or disabling injury terminated an active shooting career. In such cases, a lesser period of time, but not less than five (5) years of competition, may be considered.
  4. Candidates will be identified via nomination form (submitted by any Wisconsin WTA/ATA member). The nomination form is designed to accommodate the Shooter or Contributor category and allows for the identification of  additional relevant information.
  5. Nomination forms received by October 1st, along with a survey / comment form will be sent (on or before October 15th) to current Hall of Fame members to  review and provide comment. Responses received before December 15th will be used by the Selection Committee to formulate candidate recommendation(s) to the BOD. Items to be ranked, per candidate, by current HOF members include:

    1. Sportsmanship / ethical qualities
    2. Willingness to assist (WTA or local clubs)
    3. Helpfulness to other shooters
    4. Dedication and/or work ethic
    5. Do not know candidate / can not provide input.

  6. On or before the first quarter WTA BOD meeting in a new year, the Selection Committee will present nominee(s) and relevant information to the BOD for affirmation. Screening of nominated candidates by the Selection Committee and current HOF members will result in the final two (2) presented to the BOD.
  7. The WTA BOD will vote, by written ballot, on each nominee.  Nominees will be confirmed by a simple majority vote.
    1. If a nominee receives a majority no vote, the BOD must provide written rational to the Selection Committee within 30 days.
    2. The BOD may not provide any replacement or substitute nominee(s).
