First of all I would Like to says thanks to all board members and officers, past and present for all the hours and work they do and have done. I don’t think Dick was bashing anyone but can see how someone could take it the wrong way. He was just looking for answers from some of the meeting minutes in which Rachel cleared up in her post, thank you Rachel. I also would like to thank your family members for their time and efforts.

Now, Dick has a very good point that we all need to work together and focus on the state shoot. After all isn’t this what the WTA is all about? It is easy to point fingers at people and tell them what they are doing wrong but it does not get you anywhere or solve anything. So maybe if some of the past BOD members have input or suggestions that could be helpful to the present BOD things could go smoother. And the Present BOD should at least listen to any suggestions the veteran BOD’s have to offer. We really need to work together to make this work!

I know Brad has done well with trap help in the past when we were in Waukesha. But I think it is a little different up by Rome because you don’t have the population of the big city to draw from as far as organizations, clubs and schools. So it is hard to get the amount of workers from just one group. Maybe you need to go to multiple groups I don’t know,  someone like Brad would likely know more on this.

As far as help getting paid, unless they are a WTA member or have some kind of ties or interest in shooting or the Home grounds I don’t see them volunteering. The only reason they would be there is to make money for themselves or an organization they are affiliated with.

Thanks everyone, I am looking forward to a fun and successful State shoot!

I would like to thank everyone, past and present for the work the have done for the WTA and the Home Grounds. When you rely on volunteer help it is tough I don’t care what kind of club it is, car, snowmobile, tractor whatever it seems like you never get enough help and the help you do get always seems to be the same people, it’s just the way it is. Again many thanks to past and present board members and anyone else who helped make the WTA a success and happy holidays to all.

Brad, my thoughts exactly, the .grounds looked the best it ever has. Good targets, good people, like you said could have used more sunshine and shooters. Thanks to all who made it possible.

I was told Denny will not sign the papers to get it done. Any truth to this? Any one want to explain? We were told at the October meeting, by them president Simonar  that all it would take is Denny’s signature and it would be taken care of, all the foot work was done, no probate or anything. Sure would be nice if someone knew what was happening and could let the membership know.

Thanks Jim, it is a step in the right direction, and thanks for your response. Any reason the rest of the estate was not turned over? It is all part of the estate so obviously there is no problem with that, the only difference is the investments need to be made liquid basically. How much time does that take?

    Thanks for the update Jim

That a boy Don, jump all over a guy that is fairly new to registered shooting and asking a simple question.

Dominic, like Virgil said paid membership is new this year, you used to automatically become a member if you live in Wisconsin and joined the ATA. They did however always take fees for shooting.

Brad, the minutes are correct as that is what was said, but you are saying the statement from Kevin was wrong.(“the kids did not get paid the school did”) The treasurer only wrote what see heard in the meeting, as that is her job.

I for one do not think the shuffle, shuddle or what ever you want to call it is a good idea. The last thing we need to do at this point is make things more complicated than it needs to be. The board needs to concentrate on setting good targets and keep the shoot running as smooth as they can. The fact that people have donated trap fields in my opinion they should have the right to shoot on them. Some people that camp along the line like to choose banks close by due to the fact they might not have additional transportation with to get around. (a long walk from one end to the other) The confusion will just slow things down in my opinion.

    thanks

The point I am trying to make Don, if they just work together, the surrounding clubs so they don’t schedule shoots on the same dates.  I would rather go to a shoot with 50 shooter vs. 25. If the clubs could see all the dates before the final schedule is put together they could possibly move dates around to better suit them, that’s all I am getting at. The WTA doesn’t necessarily have to get involved other than supply the dates that clubs submit.

Don, I do know what it is like to schedule shoots. We used to get together with all the surrounding clubs, Deerfield, Beaver Dam, Bristol, Stoughton, Jefferson, Waterloo, Clyman and try to work around everyone’s dates so you could capitalize on the shooters. Once you split the croud up nobody wins as the shooter numbers just are not what they used to be. This also the reason we started the Quad County Chain shoots.

As far as the 50 mile rule I know it doesn’t exist anymore but it should. Maybe it should be 75 miles. Or maybe the WTA could have a scheduling meeting for the clubs so they could work together on choosing dates to avoid booking shoots the same day for clubs close to each other. I know times are changing and it seems to be more marathon shoots just to get targets in, but I think it has a lot to do with the low number of shooters at the clubs and they find it is just not worth it to hold a regular event. I myself enjoy the competition rather than shooting glorified practice.

Maybe you could give Denny Taylor a call as well as he originally picked the dates according to the meeting minutes. Maybe he has some input on this?
