I agree with Andy 100%, why would we want to borrow money at times like this? The main reason I don’t care to volunteer to help at the Homegrounds is that they want to spend money on things we don’t need, more trap fields, 5-stand. If you have so much money laying around you can hire someone to do the work, sorry but that’s the way I feel. Let’s pay down the loan if we have a little extra or put it in the coffers in case we have a year like this. Take care of what we have for now.
As far as 5-stand goes the couple trap clubs down by me that have either tried it or are doing it now don’t seem very successful. They are not really gaining more shooters but just getting a few trap or skeet shooters trying it so they just shoot less trap or skeet. Takes more people to run it also. This isn’t Waukesha up there, there just is not the population in that area for it to work! As far as that goes I don’t think it is worth being open for open shooting at all! How much of a profit was made last year on open shooting after ALL expenses? NOT GROSS, I’M TALKING NET? I feel we would be money ahead to just hold our bigger shoots and moth ball it the rest of the time.
Didn't you watch 60 minutes Sunday about google? They put there companies at the head of the line and the ones not associated with then page 4 plus.
Truthfully that’s what started the bleeding! We started spending money we thought we had and we didn’thave it! Wake up! The best we can hope for is to hang on to what we got and have place to hold a state shoot for years to come. Sometimes we have to settle for what we can afford, not what we want!
Really sorry to hear this. Lenny was a hoot to shoot with, always happy to see Lenny show up at a shoot, R.I.P my friend.
I’m sorry to see this happen. I would like to thank them for there time they spent serving the WTA.
So they are a fund raising committee for the WTA? Is the board involved with how the funds are generated and spent?
Does this mean we would still be waiting if there was shoot offs? lol
Any update on results?
Yes, I would also like to thank everyone for their time and dedication to keep the WTA moving forward.

I also heard the Russians where involved with the nominations!! Is this true?
As I recall Dan only got beat by one vote, so some people must have thought he was doing things right. And people are just beating down the door to get on the board, I think it’s great he stepped up when nobody else did.
The newly elected s/w zone director didn’t make it to the first meeting of his term.
Do you have an agenda for the meeting on Saturday?
First of all I would Like to says thanks to all board members and officers, past and present for all the hours and work they do and have done. I don’t think Dick was bashing anyone but can see how someone could take it the wrong way. He was just looking for answers from some of the meeting minutes in which Rachel cleared up in her post, thank you Rachel. I also would like to thank your family members for their time and efforts.
Now, Dick has a very good point that we all need to work together and focus on the state shoot. After all isn’t this what the WTA is all about? It is easy to point fingers at people and tell them what they are doing wrong but it does not get you anywhere or solve anything. So maybe if some of the past BOD members have input or suggestions that could be helpful to the present BOD things could go smoother. And the Present BOD should at least listen to any suggestions the veteran BOD’s have to offer. We really need to work together to make this work!
I know Brad has done well with trap help in the past when we were in Waukesha. But I think it is a little different up by Rome because you don’t have the population of the big city to draw from as far as organizations, clubs and schools. So it is hard to get the amount of workers from just one group. Maybe you need to go to multiple groups I don’t know, someone like Brad would likely know more on this.
As far as help getting paid, unless they are a WTA member or have some kind of ties or interest in shooting or the Home grounds I don’t see them volunteering. The only reason they would be there is to make money for themselves or an organization they are affiliated with.
Thanks everyone, I am looking forward to a fun and successful State shoot!
I would like to thank everyone, past and present for the work the have done for the WTA and the Home Grounds. When you rely on volunteer help it is tough I don’t care what kind of club it is, car, snowmobile, tractor whatever it seems like you never get enough help and the help you do get always seems to be the same people, it’s just the way it is. Again many thanks to past and present board members and anyone else who helped make the WTA a success and happy holidays to all.
Brad, my thoughts exactly, the .grounds looked the best it ever has. Good targets, good people, like you said could have used more sunshine and shooters. Thanks to all who made it possible.
