Received word today from Norieda Martin who got a call from Don’s wife, that Don had passed away last night. I have no further information of funeral arrangements but will update this post when more information becomes available. R.I.P. Don, until we meet again…..

Darien (Chapter 3) – went to the club today for the 9/2 weekend shoot. Very few cars parked there upon arrival. Then entered the clubhouse and got the bad news. Last week, Dave had fired his daughter who had been managing the club for him. The balance of Darien’s registered have probably been cancelled. If you think there is a chance they still be held, I strongly suggest you consider calling before-hand to avoid being disappointed.

All payout checks have been mailed and included a payoff sheet for Sunday. I also believe it is posted somewhere on this website. Got a few back with no postage and a couple of phone calls regarding payoffs. We know of only one outstanding issue where one shooter did not get his check.

Thank you very much Brad for your positive comments on the Homegrounds. Your endorsement means a great deal to our organization. Arlene & I will be there this weekend starting preparations for the shoot and again next weekend for making sure things are in order and supplies are stocked for the shoot. Its gonna be a busy, busy time!! Fortunately we have a good crew of BOD members and volunteers to see that everything is ready. Hope y’all enjoy it!!!

At our annual meeting last year, this situation of not having two directors representing a WTA Zone was discussed. I believe that the solution was: if no one from a zone volunteered to represent that zone, the WTA BOD could locate a willing soul, from any zone, willing to represent the zone for whom there was no one elected. That option was discussed in one of our Spring meetings and it was decided to wait until the Zone shoots were completed. I feel sure this option will be exercised by the BOD to fill the director positions in order to provide representation for the Zone with the vacancy. Many thanks for Tate “throwing his hat in the ring” again. He is a definite asset to our BOD!!!

Suspect that this time was decided on due to the Meet & Greet that day. With 300 targets in the Thurs. program and followed by shootoffs, it was felt that starting the events earlier would make it possible to avoid twilight hours and allow more folks to attend the M & G.

Hey Folks – let’s get over the P-P contest we have going here. Despite this crapola, another shooter has offered a donation of $500 each day for the Handicap events. If a few more step up, we could easily exceed the Added $ which we had last year. Like Grandma said “if you can’t say something good, keep yer mouth shut”!!

According to a conversation with Bryan about 2 weeks ago, he said he was developing a new device which would take the work out of setting targets. He didn’t say when this would be available or what the cost might be but he said “with it target setting will be a snap”. I can’t give any details as I have no more information on it.

The contractor for the building would like to get started, as quickly as the weather permits. They will be doing the building exterior and leave openings for the pouring of the concrete when the frost gets out of the ground. I suspect that the building will be enclosed by the time weather permits the pouring of concrete. There is a BOD meeting in the Rapids this Saturday. I suspect that Chops will present an updated building progress plan at that meeting.

Denny is scheduled to be released today. His Mon & brother are picking him up and taking him back to his home in Walworth. He was feeling pretty chipper yesterday and things seem to be going well with his recovery. He is going home with a trach tube in place. Home Services have been scheduled to help him with his meds and make sure everything is going well while his recovery continues. Knowing how Denny likes to talk, it must be a strain for him to have to limit himself. It wouldn’t hurt to give thanks for the successful surgery and also pray that his recovery continues and is problem free!

Denny had surgery Wed.12/13 @ St Lukes Hospital in Milwaukee for removal of a cancerous tumor under his left ear. Expected hospital stay estimated @ 10-15 days. We have been visiting daily since Fri. and each day he is looking better & better. Below is what I have emailed to his friends:
F.Y.I. – we were in to see Denny this morning. He is looking fine and is on the 11th floor (2113) in the Tower annex of St. Lukes. He is hooked-up to all sorts of IVs and has a trach tube. He is ambulatory with nurse assistance and right now I’d predict he’d be out by next weekend barring complications.

Excellent description of what FoWTA is Brad. However, if you read the minutes of the last BOD teleconference there are significant problems between the organizations. It appears that the WTA BOD is insisting they want full possession and control of the monies collected by FoWTA. The FoWTA wants to have a say as to how these monies are to be spent in order that they go for items to enhance the Homeground and not for general expenses. In my opinion the FoWTA is entirely within their rights to want input on how the funds are spent. I further believe that if the WTA BOD insists on full control of the funds, that the FoWTA may decide they no longer want to be “Friends” and let the BOD do their own fundraising. Since donations by shooters to the WTA appears to have dried up, severing relations with FoWTA would be disasterous to our organization.
In order to continue growing, the WTA needs the Friends – not the other way around!!

    Results were sent to website person today.  Thirty five entrys with high score of 487 by Wescot Sportsmens #1 (Dan Lemke – 100, John King – 92, Ken King – 98, Harv Lemke – 99, Jesse Martin – 98).  They won team lewis $175 (only one class).  The grand added was spit up by the 35 shooters participating (100 – $100; 6 98’s – $16 each); 7 – 97’s – $25 each; 5 96’s – $20 each; 4 95’s – $25 each; 3 94’s – $33 each; 1  92 $100; 2 90’s – $50 each; 1 89 – $100; 1 88 – $`100

My opinion – you will not see this event again – due to lack of entrys.  Allowing non-ATA shooters drew only 7 such shooters.

Heard from Esther yesterday that barring any unforeseen changes, Fritz would be released today in time for the Fourth of July celebrations.  He certainly will have lots to celebrate for.

His Dr. is very pleased with his recovery, but he has lots of rehab to be done!!
