ModeratorFellow Wisconsin trapshooter, dedicated WTA member and longtime friend, Dennis Taylor, has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his neck. Currently, Dennis has received one 5 day treatment of chemo and will undergo two more chemo treatments within the next two months to help reduce the size of the tumor. After this, Dennis will have the tumor surgically removed and receive radiation treatments. Right now, it is very difficult for Dennis to talk. So, please do not call him. Hopefully, with all of our prayers and Dennis’s ever optimistic attitude, he will shoot down this dreaded disease just like the targets he broke in winning the 1973 Grand American Handicap.

ParticipantArlene & I went to the hospital this morning to see how he was doing. Denny has difficulty in swallowing to they were to install a feeding tube this afternoon. He thinks he may be released tomorrow to home. He has difficulty talking as his voice is very raspy so we have trouble understanding what he is saying.
His Oncologist was in yesterday and was “excited” to report that the tumor had shrunk 30-40% in response to his first round of Chemo. Another round will be taking place in 3-4 weeks so that will be next up for him. He also has a Chemo pump in place which feeds medication into his system. Things aren’t looking so bleak any more. May God bless Denny & Ruth in this battle – the guy is “1 or a kind”!!!! I wish we had more like him……February 23, 2016 at 8:43 pm #1106Gordon Horigan

ParticipantWent to see Denny Wed. & Thur. at Burlington Hospital so I have an update on his condition. He now has a feeding tube installed where he receives medications as well as nourishment due to the in-abllity to swallow. It seems that he is a little anxious to return home. Today he was given a “swallow test” but so far I know nothing of the results. His vocal skills are still very diminished and understanding him require good ears along with a little lip reading. Probably the best means of communicating would be email or texting, both of which he can do well.

ParticipantGood news on Denny – brought him home from the hospital yesterday (feeding tube & all). Still has the swallowing problem, thus the feeding tube. Vocal communication very difficult so your best means of communication would be via email, or texting. He looked pretty darn good today and is always optimistic. Your prayers are still most welcome!!
