ParticipantThere is quite a bit of work to be done in order to get the shooting facility and campground open for the 2016 shooting & camping year. There is a group of youth Bunker shooters scheduled to practice Fri. Apr. 1st & Sat. Apr. 2nd and unless we can find some willing volunteers to assist in getting things ready, it will be very difficult to do. All the equipment stored in the Quonset building have to be unloaded and placed around the facility. Realizing what needs to be done and the short time available to get it done has led me to offer to organize a “HGOWC” (Hhome Ground Opening Work Crew) to get things ready.
If you have the time and desire to participate please contact me by email (dickotto34@gmail.com) or phone (262-378-3726). Fritz Thistle who lives in Lodi, has offered to volunteer as a sort of “general foreman” who would decide what needs to be done and prioritize the operations. Please provide me with your availability and your field of expertise (electrician, carpenter, mason, general laborer, etc.) in order that we can place you where your skills can best be utilized. At present there is no overall plan but some of us want to see the facility open and ready to go for the 2016 season.
Please give this suggestion your consideration.March 18, 2016 at 4:39 pm #1181Patrick Taylor

ParticipantTues. 3/22 Fritz & 2-Glens from the Rapids & I are going to be unloading the picnic tables from the Quonset building, applying sealer, and distributing them in the camping area. Tools needed: rollers and rubber gloves. I’m meeting Fritz in Lodi about 7 so we should be there by 9:00. Thus far I have received only one email from an IL shooter offering to be a weekend volunteer. That tells me that either WI shooters don’t read the website or just don’t give a rat’s behind about the Homeground!

ParticipantSee you Tuesday Dick. The dates you would like people to show up would be helpful.

ParticipantWe will be leaving for the warm south in a few days other wise we would come up and help.
And you are right about the 1400 or so members of the WTA . They must be the busiest bunch of people around that you can’t get 25 – 30 people to help out THEIR organization. That is pathetic.

ParticipantWe are in the process of organizing the project activities that need to be done. Fritz Thistle is working with Denny to find out the many things that have to be done in order to get the place opened up. He came down Friday & picked up the Kolar trailer which has a variety of things in it which have to used or installed. We will also have to get the Bunker up and running for the youths coming in this weekend. I’m having some minor eye surgery this Wed. so can’t predict my availability for the weekend. Fritz’s email is: thistle222@gmail.com and phone: 608-370-1118. If you can’t get to me, try Fritz.

ModeratorAt the last meeting, it was announced that the bunker youth weekend was April 2nd….the same day as the next WTA meeting. Did that date change to this weekend?

ParticipantBunker folks are scheduled to be here the weekend of 4/1,2,3. Fritz is arranging to have the bunker open and operational for 4/2,3. Arlene & I plan to be there helping him.
Last weekend, Mssrs Thistle, CHrapla, Kaszynski, Paulin, Otto, & Pat Taylor worked to get the Quonset building cleared out of picnic tables & fire rings distributing them throughout the Campgrounds (NO small task!). Dwight brought up unassembled gun rack materials donated by Rick Tesker and cut-up by Gary Fechter ready for assembly. Don Shrapla is going to begin assembling the gun racks. I suspect he is going to need help. When I get more info on that, I will post it here and try to “drum up” some volunteers. -
