HOME GROUNDS UPDATE – May 30, 2016
A GREAT help! Jerry (Dewey) Farnsworth (WTA Pres.) brought several of his gun club shooting friends to the home grounds. With a truck, they loaded up cases of targets & placed approximately 40 cases in each of the 30 traphouses! They also loaded an entire pallet of targets into the bunker. That is HUGE! Dewey also worked on repairing some washout areas. As you may know, Fritz Thistle, Dick & Arlene Otto take turns trying to fill in for Denny every week from Wednesdays through Sunday. That was one big job taken off our shoulders (and backs!) Thanks, guys!
Jeff & Billy Recob came on Sunday to help with the clean-up following the kid’s shoot and Billy put all the handicap parking signs in place.
Jerry Kaszynski came to mow some grass and promises to return to cut more. He has been here nearly every week to help.
Bob Ebbers continues to work on the electrical problem.
John Coniff will be coming here this week to help out, too!
Now for the shooting. 27 bunker shooting kids were here with their coaches, parents & grandparents. They were competing as Junior Olympic qualifiers. They shot 75 on Sat., and 50 on Sunday. A shoot-off of the top 6 scorers resulted in Bobbie Ebbers taking the gold medal, Cameron Kumeier the silver and Tyler Thiede the Bronze. In the Ladies Division, Alicia Dale won the gold, Tara Steffen took the silver, and Maddy Berneau took the bronze. Congratulations to all! And a big thank you to Perry Hintz for his coaching and organizing of this event.
We also had approximately 15 campers, and trap shooters over the weekend.
Coming up this next weekend is the WI SCTP State International Championships. The bunker kids compete in this tournament as 3 person teams. The program is the same as last week. One day bunker competition is limited to 36 shooters.
Current news on the Youth Bunker shooting can be found on Facebook under “Wisconsin Olympic Trapshooting.
Thanks to all for your help!
