Reports
Jim: Jim was asked about how the finances are going. Jim said he has sent out the letters and he is starting to hear back from a few members with donations and requests for raffle tickets. He is hoping to see it pick up soon. He has been working on the IRS withdrawals and Denny said he would visit and they could go over it together. He has been answering questions as they come up about our financial situation. The balance right now is low, but with a few donations it will hopefully begin to get caught up a little. Jim talked about soda machines for the Homegrounds. He well pursue this so it will be ready for the state shoot. Jim asked how long before the website for the Homegrounds we be done. It looks like we need to start updating things on there? A lot of the information is old. Denny said he would look into it and let him know. He also said once it is done the WTA will be able to update it when needed.
Bruce: Bruce said he is talking to the credit union to see where we stand with the loan. He, Denny and Paul Becker have been looking for the best quote they can get on a commercial building. We need the building and also the best deal. The faster we can decide where we will get the building, the faster we can get moving on it. Denny said he was meeting with Jay to survey for the building, Bruce asked to let him know he will so he could join them. Bruce also talked about getting together with Elizabeth and Reed to work out the details of the website. Hopefully they can get it more updated and user friendly. Elizabeth is also working changing the website so shooters can have access through the cell phones. Elizabeth said she would help Reed till he is comfortable doing the website. Bruce talked this week to the president of the SCTP about paying 10,000 dollars for 500 shooters in advance. They said they would but would like to know they could get a refund if weather prohibited the event to go on. One of the questions asked was about how many shooters might they be having at this shoot? Bruce said they are hoping to have about 700 or 800. Hopefully we can get the camping going also for this weekend. The Directors agreed that Bruce should contact the SCTP and let them know it that we agreed to some kind of refund would be worked out if the weather prohibited the shoot. We have been getting a lot of ideas to get more for campers to do like sporting clays, shooting range, etc. But unfortunately we need the revenue before we can do this. Bruce asked who is going to work on the advertising to the state shooting program. Don said he has been working on some of the advertising spots. Bruce talked about the idea of doing a yearly membership. This was talked about and was tabled for another meeting. It would be one way to gain some revenue. It was talked about that Denny’s hours should be documented better, this would make it easier when we split the pay between the camp grounds and the WTA.
Denny: Denny talked about the shows which he feels are going well. He also talked about the advertising in the dells has been helping. He has been getting calls for camping for groups of four to five campers. He is hoping come spring things will pick up. He has been working on advertising from every angle. He also talked about the show that was taped last year for the Outdoor Wisconsin. This show will be shown soon. Denny said he was at the Homegrounds and the snow is melting fast. Hopefully we can get the bunker up and running as soon as the snow is gone.
Don: Don brought up looking into Denny becoming an independent contractor. This might help with a few things the Directors are running into like workman’s comp. Denny thought it would be worth looking into if it will work out he said he wouldn’t mind if it saves money. Denny and Don were going to ask around to see what would have to be done, or even if it would work in our situation. He wanted to know who is updating the Facebook. No one was sure who had the passwords to update. Dave and Adam were not on but will be asked about this so it can be done soon. Don thought it should be done at least once a week. Don asked about Trap and Field advertising for the state shoot. Don had talked to Dave and he said he would do it again this year. The directors thought that would be great. Don offered to get a hold of Dave and ask him to send in an advertisement.
Glenn: Glenn said that the Town Of Rome is changing to a seller’s permit and a business permit. We now need the business permit. He was wondering who the town should send the packet to for all the changes that were made. The packet will go to Bruce and he will review this when it comes in. Glenn said he was talking to a member of the board for the Heart, he said if we would like he would go to the board at the Heart and ask if they wanted to give up the Zone shoot to the Homegrounds. It was talked about and decided it really would not work out. On that weekend the bunker shoot and also the high school shoot would be happening.
Help: There is a lot that can be done out at the Homegrounds. So if you are finding yourself with time feel free to ask Denny what could be done?
New Directors: There will be openings on the board this year and it would be nice if we could find members willing to get involved.
ATA coordinator: Melinda who has been doing a great job as our ATA coordinator said she would be retiring from this position. We were hoping we had found someone but it didn’t work out. So if you are interested please contact Melinda, she is willing to help with the switch.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:00.
