WTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

Teleconference Meeting February 25, 2013

The teleconference meeting of the Wisconsin Trapshooting Association Board of Directors was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Bruce Stiteley.

Directors on line were SE: Don Mittag, Gary Fechter, SW: Dennis Taylor, Ken Cerney, NE: Gary Strasser, NW: Glenn Hamerly, Alt. Delegate Kevin Doerring, Secr./Treas.: Arlene Otto.

Ken Cerney informed the Board that as much as he would like to run for director of his zone in June, he will be unable to do so.

On agenda: WTA Homegrounds Project Priorities

1.) Project Management – Under direction of the WTA Board – Operating Committee Three people to be appointed experienced in the marketing, finance and building fields. Suggested were Jessica Fandrich for marketing, promoting, Jeff Ebel and Bruce for finance, legal and capital funds, and Ron of Team Engineering for building. It was also suggested we look outside the box for people.

2). Site Management – After completion, a person to manage the camp grounds, and the trapshooting/training center with the aid of camp hosts or grounds keeper. This would be a person with prior gun club experience, camping experience, able to promote the business. He/she would report to the operating committee. It would not be micro-managed by the WTA Board. Parameters need to be set regarding expenditures, major decisions. Salary, benefits, and whether it be part/time, seasonal, were discussed.

3). Site name, logo – “Homegrounds Camping” was agreed upon as the name of the camp grounds. WTA Shooting and Learning Complex is the name of the trapshooting part of it, Wy-Ray Bldg. name of the clubhouse. Naming rights could be used in conjunction with “Homegrounds Camping”. Homegrounds Camping will be set up as an LLC, a separate company leased from the WTA.

4). Startup capital – A loan is in the process of being secured. Dennis is meeting with people in Madison, including Gary Goyke, Jessica Fandrich, Scott Gunderson, Mary Lassa, Dept. of Tourism, and leading members of the DNR. He will attend a reception for Senate and Assembly freshmen. Grants are being applied for.

5). Operating Agreement – basically a job description for a site manager with parameters set as to authorities, responsibilities and spending limits.

Arlene will check with our accountant regarding taxes on camping.

Don Mittag will check on signage for the Homegrounds Camping.

Dennis reported Jim Beasley (Tilden Trophies) will make 100 commemorative numbered buckles, the first one will be donated to the WTA, 99 to be sold at $99.99 each, with $15.00 of each coming back to the WTA.

Ken Cerney and Gary Strasser are going to look into different types of insurance and report back.
